Rookwood

How is Rookwood used today?

The Rookwood land is owned by Horsham District Council and leased to Rookwood Golf Club. There is a short 9 hole course and an eighteen hole golf course with seven holes south of Warnham Road and eleven holes north of Warnham Road, on land adjacent to Warnham Local Nature Reserve.

The land has a large ornamental lake and the Horsham Riverside Walk and the West Sussex Literary Trail cross the southern land, which is also home to Boldings Brook and the Red River.

The area is a green buffer for Warnham Local Nature Reserve and one of the joys of walking or playing golf here is that you are surrounded by nature.  It is an accessible, high quality green space close to many residents’ homes and represents 33% of Horsham, Town’s large green space .  Many people come to the golf course for their physical and mental well being.

Rookwood is a green space and wildlife corridor linking Warnham Nature Reserve to Chesworth Farm and the Sussex countryside.
